Did you know that Transport Canberra is introducing a new ticketing system called MyWay+ later this year?
MyWay+ will allow you to travel on buses and light rail the same way you do now, but with additional ticketing options like tapping on with a debit card or smartphone.
For those who have a smartphone, ticketing and journey planning with real-time passenger information will be available on the new MyWay+ app. You will still be able to travel on a MyWay+ travel card and with tickets purchased through ticket vending machines.
Over the next few months Transport Canberra will slowly implement the changes ready for the switch which is expected to happen in November 2024. You can keep up to date on these changes by signing up to Transport Canberra’s weekly e-news and following them on social media for regular updates or by calling the MyWay Administration Office on 6207 7711.
What do you need to do for this change? For now, nothing!
Keep using your combined ACT Seniors/TC MyWay card for travel on Transport Canberra bus and light rail services.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for MyWay+ demonstration buses.
- From May 2024, four demonstration buses will be used across the bus network.
- The four demonstration buses will help new equipment to learn planned routes and geo-locations.
- Passengers who have a demonstration bus arrive at their stop will get their ride for FREE! No need to tap on or off the bus.
- Anyone can hop on and off a MyWay+ branded demonstration bus if it arrives at their stop and enjoy a FREE ride*. Passengers do not need to tap on or off on the MyWay+ demonstration buses.
- The demonstration buses each have a MyWay+ ‘wrap’ which will make them easy to recognise as well as helping to promote awareness of the new system.
- The buses will be used across the bus network and at promotional events.
Transport Canberra will have a MyWay+ demonstration bus at COTA ACT’s Ageing Expo on Wednesday 25 September at the Old Bus Depot building on Wentworth Avenue, Kingston. The Transport Canberra team will be available to answer all your questions and to step you through this new process.
*Concession fares apply to connecting services within peak hours if you are aged 70 and under.
